FAQ Bed
Everything you need to know before buying a bed.
The BodyContour technology from roviva enables individual adjustment of sleeping comfort in the shoulder and pelvic areas. By manually adjusting the sliders, the spring elements can be set softer, which leads to noticeable relief for the shoulders and optimum support for the pelvis. This adjustment takes into account different body shapes, such as narrow or broad shoulders and different hip and pelvic shapes. The technology consists of three fibreglass-based double flex spring elements each in the shoulder and pelvic area. It is easy to adjust at any time and ensures optimum ventilation of the box and mattress. BodyContour technology is exclusively available as an additional option in cosynights boxspring beds without drives.
A box spring bed is a high-quality bed system that is characterised by its special structure. The name is derived from the English term ‘box spring’, which means ‘sprung box’. In contrast to conventional beds, a box-spring bed consists of several coordinated components that together ensure exceptional sleeping comfort.
The history of the box spring bed dates back to the 19th century. It originated in the USA and Canada. From there, the concept first conquered the Scandinavian countries and is now also very popular in Switzerland. Originally used in luxury hotels, the box-spring bed is now very popular in private bedrooms.
- In a traditional bed, the mattress lies on a slatted frame that is built into a bed frame.
- In a box spring bed, on the other hand, the mattress rests on a sprung base box, which already offers integrated spring comfort.
- The box spring bed is usually significantly higher than conventional beds, which makes it easier to get in and out of bed.
The box-spring bed structure typically consists of three main components:
With our box spring configurator, customising your box spring bed is child's play.
It's time for a new box spring bed if:
- The mattress has clear sagging spots
- You wake up in the morning with back pain
- The springiness of the base box has deteriorated
- The frame or substructure has become unstable
- The bed appears unhygienic or smells unpleasant despite cleaning
- Quality of the materials used
- Intensity of use, regular turning and flipping of the mattress
- Body weight of the user
- Regular and professional box-spring bed care
- Optimum room climate (16-18°C, 40-60% humidity)
A high-quality box spring bed has an average lifespan of around 10 years. The individual components have different lifespans:

For optimum hygiene, we recommend
- Weekly vacuuming of the surfaces with low suction power
- Monthly turning and airing of the mattress
- Basic cleaning of all components every six months
- Immediate treatment of stains
- Quality and type of spring core systems used
- High quality of the cover materials
- Quality of workmanship and place of manufacture
- Additional functions (e.g. motorised adjustment)
- Brand name and service of the manufacturer
- Sustainable or particularly innovative materials

The topper is the crowning glory of the box-spring bed structure and fulfils several important functions:
- It provides additional lying comfort and a pleasant surface feel

Choosing the right box spring mattress is crucial for an optimal lying experience:
- Pocket spring mattresses: Ideal for box spring beds as they perfectly complement the spring properties of the base box. Our dream-away climaxx, butterfly sapphire and collection rovinight mattresses are particularly suitable.
- Cold foam mattresses: Alternatively for people who prefer a firmer lying sensation. e.g. our dream-away climaxx mattress.
- Hybrid mattresses: Combine spring core with foam layers for balanced comfort.
The mattress should always be tailored to individual needs and harmonise with the base box.
